2022 2nd Place Judges' pick "Best Grill Master", 2019, 2016, 2015 1st Place Judges' pick "Best Grill Master" and 2017 3rd Place Judges' pick "Best Grill Master" Chef George Patti is Chef/co-owner of M.E.A.T. Eatery and Taproom. He was the Chef and Co-owner of the top rated Upper Florida Keys restaurant, Tasters Grille, from 2009 to 2015. These restaurants have been featured in USA Today Travel 10 Best.com, Travel + Leisure, Tasting Table, Social Florida Guide and Florida Travel and Life. In the past five years he has won local awards for Best Chef (three times in the Keys and once in South Florida’s Burgie Awards), his Yellowtail Entrée and Lobster Mac-n-Cheese, Best Overall Restaurant (Tasters Grille), Soups (twice), Desserts (twice), Burgers (twice) and four years in a row for his Smoked Fish Dip.
Chef Patti has been featured in Bon Appétit Magazine for his grilled filet mignon with chocolate port wine sauce and tempura battered bokchoy. In 2003 during his time as Executive Chef and partner at Sweet Sop Restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale, he received glowing reviews in both the Sun-Sentinel and the Miami Herald newspapers. He has also been featured on the national television show, Finer Living, which showcased him preparing his signature dish, pan-seared scallops with sweet potato rum sauce and roasted scotch bonnet. Chef George was also featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives that aired on Friday, April 22nd, 2016. Be sure to catch the re-run of the episode.
George Patti’s prior culinary experiences include positions as Chef de Cuisine at Louis’ in Charleston, SC under James Beard Award winning Chef Louis Osteen; Sous Chef at Sfuzzi Italian Restaurant, Executive Chef for Odyssey Cruises and at Ten Penh all in Washington, DC. He is a Johnson & Whales culinary graduate.

2018 1st Place Judges' pick "Best Grill Master" About Chef Jeff Vincent - A South Carolina native and graduate of the University of Hard Knocks (still enlisted) -- has at one time worked just about every job there is in a kitchen. Starting as a humble dishwasher in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Jeff has followed his passion across the south, leading him to take on the role of Executive Chef at the esteemed Highland Country Club from 2006-2012. Jeff most recently helmed the kitchen at Beauty and the Feast at the Atlantic Hotel on Fort Lauderdale Beach, where he earned the restaurant rave reviews for its Southern-inspired cuisine (a style Jeff refers to as “simple, with good ingredients”). Jeff is a natural charmer and loves to shag (the dance, of course). He lives with his two sons in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

2019 2nd Place Judges' pick "Best Grill Master" La Perrada del Gordo opened in June of 2003 in West Palm Beach, FL, by its owners Elizabeth Novoa and Miguel Martinez, mother and son duo, who wanted the American dream of doing business in this country, the country of opportunities. For over 15 years they have been delivering Colombian flavor and delights to the south Florida, “gourmet fast foods” which fits with the newest gastronomic trend. Their beginnings started with a simple rented mobile hot dog cart that they move around daily from one place to another on Military Trail, from Gun Club Rd to Forest Hill Blvd, and built relationships with customers by telephone to let them know where they were that day. In June 2004, they took ownership of a fixed location in Flea Market and then in March, 2007 they opened their famous West Palm Beach location. Then, after huge growth they opened their second location in Boca Raton, FL in March, 2012. Today, they continue to increase sales and are focusing on opening franchises with new entrepreneurs who want to multiply their opportunities with an accredited brand. We have a great product of the highest quality, a unique and exclusive menu and a system of work which allows a dynamic flow and process to provide an excellent and timely service to our loyal customers.

NEW CONTENDER! Marco’s Top Burgers, originally Marquinho’s Top Burgers, started with the intention of bringing Brazilian style burgers to the community of south Florida, a first of its kind. Marco and his wife Ana rented a small ghost kitchen in 2018, and after Marco’s day job, he would heat up the grill while Ana took orders over the phone and the drivers ensured a speedy delivery. Soon enough, people were telling their friends and family about the burgers and the business took off. In less than a year, the company went from 2 to 6 delivery drivers, and the orders kept on coming.
Marco and Ana have been in the food industry all their lives, previously owning a restaurant together, but Marco’s Top Burgers presented an opportunity to combine what they love to do, with what customers were seeking, especially the Brazilian community in South Florida, which was Brazilian style burgers that tasted like home.
With demand growing, Marco and Ana took a leap of faith and invested in a food truck, for the first time serving customers with dine in and take out options. Soon after, the company partnered up for a few months with a local supermarket where the first burger joint was opened up. With the food truck doing private parties and neighborhood nights, and the burger joint expanding clientele, Marco and Ana had their hands full. It was time for the next step.
In 2021, in the middle of the pandemic, Marco’s Top Burgers opened doors in Pompano Beach. This restaurant allowed them to put in practice all the know-how they have been accumulating for years in order to create a cozy environment for customers to enjoy tasty burgers, fresh meals, and a good atmosphere.
Marco and Ana are believers in God and their purpose in life is beyond themselves. Marco’s Top Burgers is a tangible proof that dreams do come true when you serve God with love. We can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. May this story keep growing with success and love as Marco’s Top Burgers continues their mission.

NEW CONTENDER! Executive Chef Giovanni Ramirez started in the restaurant industry when he was 15 as a busboy at a small Italian restaurant. He went on to work at Salt Life Food Shack in Coral Springs after high school, taking on multiple positions and moving his way up to management. When the restaurant closed, he moved to managing Salsa Fiesta, a fast casual taco and burrito restaurant where he learned more about cooking, experimenting with spices, marinades, and sauces.
After Salsa Fiesta, he moved on to work at Mission BBQ, immersing himself in the back of the house and acquiring extensive knowledge of cooking low and slow, as well as mastering the art of creating mouthwatering barbecue dishes such as brisket, pork, mac 'n' cheese, and delectable desserts like cobblers. During his time at Mission BBQ, he achieved the remarkable feat of winning the Master Carver title two years in a row in a competition where he skillfully carved meats to precise portions without relying on weighing scales and without wasting any meat.
Influenced by his Peruvian grandparents, Chef Giovanni Ramirez developed a deep appreciation for culinary traditions. His grandmother's skillful preparation of dishes like Lomo Saltado, Aji de Gallina, and Causa left a lasting impression on him, while his grandfather introduced him to his first cheeseburger, igniting his love for this classic American staple. Throughout his childhood, his mother would often take the family to burger joints, further fueling his passion for cheeseburgers.
Cooking became more than a passion for Giovanni; it became a means of sharing his love for food with friends, family, and others. The pandemic provided him with an opportunity to refine his culinary skills and unleash his creativity by cooking for friends and family. It was during this time that he and his girlfriend made the decision to embark on a culinary adventure. They sought out a location for their pop-up cooking concept, leading to the establishment of their thriving food truck business, 'The Munchies Report'. Based at Pompano Beach Brewing Company, 'The Munchies Report' specializes in mouthwatering smash burgers, tacos, and a rotating menu influenced by their Peruvian and Puerto Rican backgrounds. Their dedication to blending flavors from both cultures has garnered them a loyal following and elevated their food truck business to new heights.
